Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) invites applications for a heavy equipment operator at the Albian Oil Sands site in Fort McMurray, AB. The role reports to the Shift Team Lead and focuses on safe, steady, and reliable operation of multiple heavy machines within a mining setting.

We seek candidates with oil sands experience, a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, and a valid Class 5 license. The position supports 7x7, 12-hour shifts, and safety-first operations with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalency.
• Experience operating heavy equipment in a mining/oil sands environment.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and reliably (e.g., haul trucks, dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, shovels).
• Maintain compliance with Health and Safety requirements and safety systems (FLHA, Hazard IDs, WSO).
• Adhere to Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations and environmental standards.

Make your mark while you grow your career! Bring your heavy equipment operating experience to our Mine Operations team at Albian. Reporting to the Shift Team Lead, you will contribute to safe and reliable operations by operating a variety of heavy equipment and supporting the team in achieving its operational goals.

• Job location: Albian Oil Sands Site - Fort McMurray, Alberta
• Shift schedule: 7 x 7, 12-hour shift
• Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for safe, steady and reliable operations of the following equipment, not limited to:
  • Haul Truck (797,793,789,785)
  • Dozer (D11, D10)
  • Backhoe
  • Grader (24H/M, 16 H/M)
  • Excavator (Hitatchi EX 2500, Komatsu PC3000)
  • Loaders (CAT 980, 938K, 988)
  • Shovels (Bucyrus 495, Hitatchi EX 8000)
• Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural including the use of Canadian Natural’s Safety Management System tools such as FLHA’s, Hazard ID’s and WSO’s
• Comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards

What You Bring To The Role

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalency
• Experience operating a heavy equipment in a mining/oil sands environment
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
