As a Heavy Equipment Apprentice, you will play a vital role in ensuring our equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for the job. With opportunities for continuous learning and a supportive work environment, your skills will drive the success of our construction projects.

Responsibilities

Perform the following duties under supervision of a Red Seal Heavy Equipment Mechanic:

  • Preventative maintenance – Carry out scheduled maintenance on heavy equipment to ensure optimal functionality and longevity.
  • Diagnose and repair – Troubleshoot and fix equipment breakdowns, identifying issues and applying effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Complete repairs – Perform necessary repairs on a wide range of heavy equipment to minimize downtime and keep operations running smoothly.
  • Order parts – Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary parts and materials for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain tools and equipment – Keep equipment, tools, and the work environment clean and well-organized to promote safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Experience in heavy equipment maintenance – Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
  • Education – College-level education as a Heavy Equipment Technician is highly desired.
  • Certifications – A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required; Block 3 or Block 4 completion is preferred.
  • Technical skills – Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting abilities, and proficiency in technology (computer systems, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Critical thinking – Ability to diagnose issues, make decisions quickly, and stay current with industry trends through ongoing training and development.
