Job Title

Equipment Mechanic

Overview

As an Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of essential machinery. Your duties will include using hand and power tools to fix multiple small engines such as forklifts, scissor lifts, genie booms, and various other equipment. Additionally, you will be tasked with reading and interpreting technical drawings and specification sheets.

Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain small engines such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and genie booms.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform repairs.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specification sheets.
  • Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in inclement weather.
  • Maneuver around obstructions and handle materials and equipment in various sizes and weights.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of mechanic experience.
  • Ability to repair forklifts, scissor lifts, and genie booms.
  • Proficient with and ownership of basic hand and power tools.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with cranes is a plus.
  • Red Seal Certification is an asset.
  • Experience in welding, gouging, and/or fitting pressure vessels or ballast tanks.
  • Experience working in shipyards or dry docks.
  • Forklift licenses.
  • Skills in rigging and using hoists.

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site position in St. Catharines, Ontario, with day shifts running from Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4:30 PM. The work environment is fast-paced, busy, and can be hectic, with minimal training provided. You will need to be comfortable working in very cold conditions, confined spaces, and inclement weather. The role requires a minimum 45-hour work week, with lots of overtime available, including extended shifts and weekend work. Work will take place at two different sites, including Port Wellar Dry Docks, with 7 openings available.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Catharines, Ontario.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
