Qualifications

• Education: Trade certification, Journeyman Red Seal and/or currently registered in a related Provincial Apprenticeship program.
• Work Experience: 2-3 years
• Knowledge: Proficient written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to work with customers, exceptional customer service; demonstrated mechanical aptitude, analysis and problem solving skills

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose equipment to determine servicing and repair requirements.
• Perform maintenance, repairs, and component replacement on heavy equipment in the shop and at customer locations.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrain components, electrical systems, and other equipment components.
• Service and repair equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, graders, forestry equipment, and other off-road heavy equipment.
• Recondition and remanufacture components as required, including engine, hydraulic, and powertrain components.
• Perform field service and emergency repairs at customer locations when required.
• Communicate with customers regarding equipment condition, recommended repairs, and required authorization.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with customers by providing professional and reliable service.
• Accurately document work performed and complete all required service paperwork.

Description

The Opportunity

Must be a Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) with Red Seal certification.

Responsible for providing quality workmanship, reliable service, and technical expertise to customers within our Construction & Forestry division. This position performs testing, diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and reconditioning of construction and forestry equipment both in the shop and at customer locations.

The successful candidate will have strong experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrain components, electrical systems, undercarriage, and other components commonly found on construction and forestry equipment.

The Role

• Perform maintenance, repairs, and component replacement on heavy equipment in the shop and at customer locations.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrain components, electrical systems, and other equipment components.
• Service and repair equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, graders, forestry equipment, and other off-road heavy equipment.
• Recondition and remanufacture components as required, including engine, hydraulic, and powertrain components.

• Communicate equipment servicing and repair requirements with the Branch Supervisor/Manager.
• Accurately document work performed and complete all required service paperwork.
• Update and maintain equipment service records.
• Complete work orders, warranty documentation, and required repair information accurately and on time.
• Utilize manufacturer diagnostic software, technical information, and online support tools when troubleshooting equipment.
• Participate in manufacturer and in-house technical training. Training may occur during or outside regular working hours.
• Participate in all required Health & Safety training.
• Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments and Job Hazard Assessments as required.
• Comply with all company Health & Safety policies, programs, and practices.
• Perform daily duties in a manner that promotes a safe and productive workplace.
• Maintain tooling, service vehicles, and work areas in a clean and professional condition.
• Perform housekeeping duties as required.
• Maintain a professional company image when working with customers and representing the organization.
