Job description

Position overview

As a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of mobile/portable equipment. You will perform diagnostics, mechanical overhaul, and maintenance on a variety of specialized heavy-duty equipment, including fire trucks, runway trucks, sweepers, chemical application vehicles, mowers, and trucks with diesel and gas engines.

You will join a team of technicians, apprentices, and planners that organize, plan, and perform maintenance on an inventory of over 350 pieces of unique response and heavy equipment designed specifically for the airport environment.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Maintaining and repairing emergency rescue and operations vehicles, including fire trucks and foam trailers.
  2. Maintaining summer and winter operations vehicles and equipment.
  3. Maintaining and repairing specialty equipment and tooling.
  4. Planning, scheduling, and organizing work.
  5. Leading activities and sharing knowledge with apprentices.
Key qualifications include:
  • At least three years' recent experience, with a Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck/Transport Mechanic or Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid BC driver's license (Class 1 or 3 preferred).
Additional information
