Qualifications

  • Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician certification is essential.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.

Acden Base Operators Firebag team is growing!

Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanic

Note: This is a fly-in fly-out opportunity located in Fort Mackay at the Firebag River Airport.

Primary Focus

Repair, service, and maintain diesel and gas-powered light vehicles, heavy equipment, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) equipment, and small engines.

  • Physically demanding duties such as heavy lifting, working underneath trucks, working in cramped or awkward positions, climbing on/off units & trailers, getting in/out of units, and working long hours if required.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on light vehicles, heavy trucks, and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair critical equipment required for airport operations.
  • Carry out minor modifications and small projects as required.
  • Interpret technical manuals and work orders; write service reports.
  • Secondary duties may include conducting environmental, safety, and quality checks, general housekeeping, and taking proactive measures to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Respond to site preservation and environmental emergencies, among other duties.
Education Requirements
  • Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician certification or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification is an asset.
  • Class 1 or Class 3 license with Q endorsement is an asset.

  • Diagnosing electrical and hydraulic issues.
  • Service truck/field experience is an asset.
  • Organizational skills and basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and safe work practices.
  • Ability to work a modified schedule.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol tests.
