Job summary

Velocity Truck Centre Canada in Terrace, BC is seeking a Service Technician Apprentice to support the service department by assisting licensed technicians in inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers. The role offers hands-on learning through a recognized apprenticeship program with opportunities to develop expertise in commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.

Qualifications

• Registered in, or eligible to register for, a Truck and Transport Mechanic or Trailer Mechanic Apprenticeship Program.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in the heavy-duty trucking industry.
• Willing to learn and take direction with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
• Basic understanding of hand tools, shop equipment, and workplace safety procedures.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Reliable, punctual, and capable of working effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection, diagnosis, and repair of truck and trailer systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine service tasks such as fluid changes and brake adjustments.
• Support Journeyperson and Senior Technicians with diagnostics and complex repairs.
• Accurately document completed work, labour hours, inspections, and repair details.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Attend in-school apprenticeship training and participate in OEM and manufacturer training programs.
• Communicate progress and learning objectives with the team.
