Job description

NCSG Crane and Heavy Haul Services is seeking a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic to assist our maintenance team supporting our Fort McMurray, AB, branch and region. This position is based out of our Ruth Lake branch north of Fort McMurray, AB. It offers a fantastic learning and growth opportunity for the right candidate. The HD Mechanic will be responsible for performing maintenance and servicing of property, equipment, and vehicles.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Ensure health and safety as the top priority by complying with all safe work practices, including NCSG's Life Saving Rules, policies, and procedures, acting safely at all times
  • Perform daily maintenance of property, equipment (e.g., cranes), and vehicles throughout the facility
  • Inspect and evaluate operating conditions of equipment and vehicles
  • Perform maintenance activities and modify existing equipment and systems to keep the facility in good working order
  • Complete all maintenance in accordance with department policies and safety regulations
  • Attend training sessions to update technical knowledge as needed
  • Take responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
  • Complete special projects as assigned

  • CVIP License required
  • Fall Arrest
  • WHMIS 2015
  • CSO
  • H2S Alive
  • First Aid
  • CSTS 2020

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Journeyman Certificate
  • 3rd or 4th year apprentices with relevant experience considered
  • Valid driver’s license and five-year commercial driver’s abstract prior to hiring
  • Heavy duty experience required; crane experience (e.g., Liebherr crawlers, Grove, Linkbelt, Tadano cranes) is an asset
  • Own tools required
  • Member in good standing or willingness to join Operating Engineers Local 955
  • Flexible rotational schedules available: 14 & 7, 14 & 14, 20 & 10
  • Camp provided
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Fort McMurray uplift available for local candidates: $7.00/hour up to $70.00/day worked
