Job summary

Blackline Civil Inc. in Alberta is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel-powered equipment across central and northern projects. You will ensure safe operation and maintain detailed service records.

Ideal candidate: journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification or equivalent, strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, plus ability to read manuals and schematics. Class 1 or 3 license is an asset.

Qualifications

• Journeyman certification or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Experience with CAT, Komatsu, John Deere preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Valid driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 an asset).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Repair heavy-duty equipment (e.g., trucks, loaders, excavators).
• Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing.
• Complete inspections and maintain service records.

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. You’ll be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and diesel-powered vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
• Perform repairs on heavy-duty equipment (e.g., trucks, loaders, excavators)
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventative servicing
• Complete inspections and maintain accurate service records
• Ensure all work meets safety and regulatory standards
• Work collaboratively with operators and supervisors
