Job summary

Trouw Nutrition Otterburne, a Nutreco company, is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic (Journeyman) to maintain a fleet of 17 truck and trailer units. The role reports to the Plant Manager and requires strong organizational skills and teamwork in a shop environment in Otterburne, MB.

Responsibilities include fleet maintenance, preventative service, hydraulic and electrical system repairs, and record keeping. On-call after hours may be required; candidates should be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification or 2-3 years equivalent experience.
• Certification in ABS air brake systems.
• Class 1 driver’s license with air brake endorsement preferred.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team and report to the Plant Manager. The ideal candidate is organized and self-motivated, responsible for maintaining our fleet of 17 truck and trailer units, including brakes, suspension, steering, and oil changes. Enjoy working with newer light trucks in our excellent shop workspace.

• Fleet Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair truck and trailer units to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Preventative Maintenance: Complete scheduled maintenance tasks, including inspections and service work, to minimize downtime and support operational efficiency.
• Mechanical and Electrical Systems: Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, tractor and trailer wiring, brakes, suspension, steering, and related components.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety procedures, workplace policies, and maintenance standards at all times.

Who We’re Looking For

• Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification, or 2-3 years of equivalent experience gained through hands-on work, training, or education.
• Certification in ABS air brake systems.
• Class 1 driver's licence with air brake endorsement is preferred.
• Able to regularly bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs.
