Heavy Duty Mechanic – Go West Mine - Carman Construction

Carman Construction is seeking a dedicated and skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This full-time, permanent position is based on-site at the Go West Mine, located in Timmins, Ontario.

You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our heavy equipment fleet, including Komatsu, Volvo, and CAT machinery, ensuring optimal performance in a challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform planned maintenance and repairs on various heavy equipment
2. Read and interpret equipment plans, operator manuals, and technical documentation
3. Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently
4. Handle fueling, greasing, and cleaning duties
5. Ensure equipment is ready for the next job upon return
6. Oversee and inspect junior staff’s work for accuracy and quality
7. Maintain accurate paperwork and inventory of tools
8. Assist with general labor duties and lead by example in safety and performance

Requirements:

• Heavy Duty Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Millwright experience preferred
• Industrial maintenance experience required
• Valid DZ license is an asset
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, electrical systems, and fuels/lubricants
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Physically capable of working in tight spaces and in all weather conditions
• Proven reliability and ability to work independently
