Job summary

Sun Peaks Resort LLP is seeking an Apprentice Heavy-Duty Mechanic (Year 1) to learn maintenance and repair of golf course and on-mountain equipment. The role emphasizes hydraulics, electrical systems, and sharping reels/knives, with safety as a priority.

You will work in a fully equipped shop and collaborate with a team across seasons. The position requires physical presence in Canada’s resort environment and offers opportunities for hands-on training, development, and exposure to a mountain

Qualifications

• Experience or interest in repairing and maintaining mobile equipment with a focus on hydraulics, electrical systems, and sharp/adjust reels or knives.
• Valid BC Class 5 driver's license is required.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair Golf Course and On-Mountain mobile equipment, golf carts, powered tools and attachments.
• Grind and sharpen reels, bed knives, and rotary blades.
• Maintain work orders and maintenance records as directed.

Heavy Duty Mechanic - Apprentice (Year 1)

Are you planning a career in Heavy Duty Mechanics? Does working on a wide range of mobile equipment appeal to you? Are you interested in the golf, ski and resort industry and have the technical skill required to be a Heavy-Duty Mechanic? Sun Peaks Resort Golf Course is now accepting applications for an Apprentice Heavy-Duty Mechanic. You will learn all aspects of repairing and maintaining many types of equipment and how to sharpen and set up reel-to-bed knife mowers. You will work in a fully supplied shop focusing on health, safety and the environment. You will work in a team environment to provide a high-quality manicured golf course, landscape, trail network and cross-trained to assist on the ski hill when required.

Compensation Information: $24.61 per hour

Physical Requirement: Heavy; work activities involve handling loads up to 35kg; both indoor and outdoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:

• Interested in equipment repairs and maintenance with a focus on hydraulics, electrical and quality of cut
• Previous experience with mobile equipment is an asset
• Valid BC Class 5 driver's license
• Self-motivated, mature, requires minimum supervision, and works well with others; able to lead by example; willing and able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions
• Individual will bring their own toolset
• Ability to operate mobile equipment
• Ability to think quickly and follow all safety procedures
• Working knowledge of current WorkSafeBC regulations

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintenance and repair of Golf Course and On-Mountain mobile equipment, golf carts, powered tools and attachments
• Grinding and sharpening of reels, bed knives, and rotary blades
• Maintain work orders and maintenance records as directed
• Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment

• Maintain positive attitude and provide excellent customer service to all departments
