Position Overview:

As the world's largest Caterpillar dealer, we are looking for the BEST Heavy Duty Mechanics who are ready to build a long-term career with Finning. We provide DEALER GRADE TRAINING and support to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a variety of Caterpillar open pit mining equipment within Alberta's oil sands.

Work Environment and Schedule:

We prioritize safety and provide a safe work environment. The role is based out of Albian, supporting shop and field work, on a 14x14 12-hour day/night shift rotation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work safely as part of a team with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment
  • Perform field diagnosis and repairs
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
  • Complete technical documentation
  • Interact with customers and internal teams
  • Collaborate with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand

Qualifications:

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
  • Valid driver’s license with a recent drivers abstract
  • Mining equipment repair experience is an asset, especially with 797 B & F Trucks, D11, 24 motor graders, and 740 ADT

Additional Notes:

  • Position located at the Albian site on a 14x14 shift rotation
  • Camp and flights provided from Edmonton or Calgary
  • Must be fit tested and able to wear a respirator
  • Employment in accordance with the collective agreement
