Job summary

Border Paving Ltd. in Alberta is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to keep our construction equipment running safely and efficiently during the season. This role focuses on inspections, diagnostics, preventive maintenance and repairs across a range of trucks, trailers and paving equipment.

You will work mainly in the shop with some field support, require own tools, and be able to travel occasionally. We value reliability, attention to detail and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

• Alberta HET certification or 3rd year apprentice or out-of-province HET with Red Seal
• Own tools required
• Strong diagnostic ability in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
• Basic welding knowledge
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Class 1 asset)
• CVIP certification considered an asset
• Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Physically capable of working in a demanding shop and field environments

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of truck, trailer combinations and various off road equipment including compaction equipment, dozers, excavators, graders, loaders and paving equipment
• Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
• Complete preventative maintenance, planned repairs and emergency breakdown repairs
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and required documentation
• Operate a service truck in the field when required, including occasional overnight travel
• Perform work in a safe, timely and efficient manner
• Work overtime and weekends during the construction season as required

Job description

For more than 70 years, Border Paving Ltd. has played a key role in building and maintaining Alberta's infrastructure. This position plays a key role in keeping our operations running safely and efficiently throughout the construction season, Duties include inspections, diagnostics, preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of construction equipment. Work is primarily shop based with occasional mobile field support as required.
