Job description

Summary: Reporting directly to the Service Manager the heavy equipment mechanics will repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul, fabricate and maintain heavy equipment, trailers, trucks and other construction/material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Keep a clean and safe work area
  • Check heavy equipment and trucks for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults, malfunctions, mechanical issues to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems as required and/or instructed by manager.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and operation
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment based on scheduled intervals prescribed by the manufacturer or company policy/practice.
  • Service attachments and working tools such as buckets, hammers, etc
  • Use different tools and equipment, such as pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, screwdrivers, hoists and jacks, to repair heavy equipment while constantly utilizing safety precautions.
  • Use of wire feed and stick welders to repair and/or fabricate components of heavy equipment.
  • Use of cutting torches to aid in fabrication and repair of parts and components.
  • Test drive vehicles to ensure they are running properly and to find issues to determine what the solution will be
  • Must be comfortable with working in awkward positions or cramped spaces
  • Provide list of parts/repairs required to repair equipment, list consumables used in repair
  • Report broken equipment and tools and advise on repair procedures
  • Miscellaneous tasks required in day to day operations at Kynock Resources.
  • Years of demonstrated experience in a heavy equipment technician type position.
  • Education or combination of experience and education in heavy mechanics.
  • Ability to use basic computer skills to communicate via email, troubleshoot and diagnose using internet, look at service manuals online with exploded diagrams etc

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds over short distances.
  • Must have reliable vehicle to get to Hammonds Plains Location with valid drivers license.
  • Expertise and proven experience with safe workplace initiatives.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Depending on experience and qualifications. $28.00/hr and up
