Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Mechanic with at least five years of experience specializing in diesel engine repair. This is a Monday to Friday daytime position to backfill for retirements, offering excellent mentoring opportunities within this established company.

Job Description:
Heavy-Duty Mechanics perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty equipment. Responsibilities include servicing brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions, and other mechanical systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to assess vehicle condition.
  • Repair and maintain powertrains, electrical systems, air conditioning, fuel and emissions systems, brakes, steering, hydraulics, and related components.
  • Perform major overhauls, disassembly, reassembly, and replacement of assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts.
  • Test vehicle performance through test drives and system adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety and health regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and post-repair testing.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for employment in Canada.
  • Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic certification (overseas experience will be considered).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working on diesel engines.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using computerized and traditional diagnostic methods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in operating tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment, machines, and tools, including their functions, repair, and maintenance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
