Job summary

GDI Integrated Facility Services in Edmonton is seeking a dependable janitor to clean floors, washrooms, offices, and common areas across multiple buildings. You will collect and remove garbage, restock supplies, and report maintenance issues to supervisors.

Candidates should be able to work with minimal supervision, operate cleaning equipment safely, and have reliable transportation. A Criminal Background Check is required and the role is full-time in a on-site setting.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs and other surfaces inside buildings.
• Strip and wax floors, steam clean carpets, and clean windows on request.
• Wash windowsills and interior/exterior doors and walls daily.
• Restock paper supplies and maintain bathrooms daily.
• Assist supervisor with additional tasks as needed.
• Report defects such as clogged urinals or lights out to supervisors.
• Handle trash collection and disposal and manage liners.
• Perform high dusting and wall washing; operate heavy-duty machines.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and use cleaning equipment safely.

General Description

A janitor is generally responsible for the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces and carpets, washrooms, common areas, offices, and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin. Other responsibilities could be included.

Full Time.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs and other surfaces (inside buildings).
• Stripping and waxing, steam cleaning carpets and cleaning windows – on request only
• Wash windowsills; glass in interior doors, partition, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior/exterior- Wash/spot clean interior walls as appropriate daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily. Standard bathroom procedures are to damp wipe glass surfaces, empty waste baskets, service soap and toilet paper dispensers, dust sills, clean tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, sweep/mop/scrub floors, etc.
• Assist the supervisor with any other assistance that requires help from the employee.
• Monitors possible defects such as clogged urinals and lights out, and reports to supervisors.
• There will be showers, they will have to go between the two buildings (they are across the street from each other).
• Collect building trash daily placing it in approved container and place in designated collection area for subsequent removal.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specs.
• High dusting, wall washing
• compactors, lifting up to 50lbs,using heavy duty machines, changing garbage.

• Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment.
• Must have own transportation
• Requires attention to detail, a pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.
