Thompson Construction Group is currently seeking a charismatic and experienced individual to join our team as a Heavy Civil Earthworks Site Superintendent working from our operations area in Fort McMurray, AB. Reporting to a Project Director, the Site Superintendent is involved in a wide range of earthworks construction activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure site safety and environmental standards are met or exceeded.
  • Organize the job site and crew to carry out the project plan.
  • Coordinate machine and manpower movement throughout the project.
  • Establish and communicate tasks to Site Foreman to ensure they clearly understand their respective roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of corporate health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Directly supervise all phases of the project and ensure quality control testing is completed and accurate.
  • Ensure subcontract forces work efficiently to meet schedule demands and that the work carried out is done in accordance with the plans and specifications.
  • Attend site meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Heavy Civil Earthworks Construction and/or Mining Industry.
  • Previous experience leading teams of a minimum of 100 workers.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in the Fort McMurray area and live in remote camps, working a rotational schedule.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certification.
  • Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) Certification, CSO or BSO equivalent.
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence Certification.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test.
