Job summary

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma with a technical/post-secondary focus in metallurgy, 2–5 years in M&P/metallurgical roles, and strong knowledge of AMS2750/AMS2770/AWS 3.7. NADCAP accreditation support is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Sustain development of internal processing techniques and procedures in heat treatment.
• Perform duties in Heat Treatment, Vacuum Brazing, Dip Brazing, Hardness Testing, and Chemical Processing requirements.
• Drive continual improvement of techniques, technologies, and M&P methods.
• Support NADCAP accreditation and related audits; assist training and internal audits.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering for repeatable M&P methods and with Quality Engineering to ensure NADCAP compliance.

Description

Job Duties

• Sustain development of internal processing techniques and procedures
• Performing duties in Heat Treatment, Vacuum Brazing, Dip Brazing, Hardness Testing, and Chemical Processing process requirements
• Continual improvement on techniques and technologies involved with special processing
• Continual improvement of Methods and Procedures
• Support the sustainment of NADCAP accreditation, in accordance with the specs and audit requirements
• Support of training, certification, job audits and internal audits related to special process
• Act as a liaison between the Performance Review Institute, American Welding Society, Society of Automotive Engineers – Aerospace Group and other key organizations
• Attendance at NADCAP committee meetings and AWS committee meetings
• Play a key role in BPQ (Braze qualification process)
• Engage with tensile, metallography, and other NDT methods to determine the characteristics of processed alloys
• Work side by side with Manufacturing Engineering to establish repeatable methods with sound M&P logic
• Work side by side with Quality Engineering to ensure adherence to internal procedures and NADCAP requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum Gr. 12/high school completion
• Technical diploma an asset
• Post-secondary in Metallurgy / Materials / Processes (Aluminum expertise preferred)
• 2-5 years of experience in a M&P/ metallurgical role
• Very good knowledge of industry specifications AMS2750, AMS2770, AWS3.7
