Job summary

Louis Brier Home and Hospital in Vancouver, BC offers a Health Career Access Program (HCAP) opportunity to work as a Health Care Assistant trainee. Successful applicants must be willing to temporarily relocate to Vancouver for employment and education, with a path to a licensed HCA upon program completion.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 completion or equivalent.
• Canadian citizenship or permanent residence.
• No prior completion of an HCA training program in BC.

Responsibilities

• Participates as an integral member of a healthcare delivery team to provide a variety of non-direct and/or non-clinical healthcare supports to clients, residents and/or families to meet established needs.
• Establishes rapport with clients, residents and families, and assists in promoting well-being.
• Assists with mealtime activities and transport to dining areas; assists with simple food preparation where needed.
• Provides assistance in carrying out activities; sets up supplies and equipment and helps with mobility.
• Performs housekeeping duties and maintains safety and infection control procedures.
• Greets visitors and provides information or directs to appropriate area.
• Checks and restocks supplies and assists in inventory.
• Completes and maintains related records electronically or in daily log sheets.
• Learns with experienced healthcare professionals and participates in required orientation and education.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
