About the Opportunity

The Health Care Social Worker reports to the Trauma Program Manager, but is also supported by Program Manager, Bone and Joint within the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care portfolio, Central Zone. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Health Care Social Worker provides a diverse range of interventions to clients and their families enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health. These interventions include psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counseling, resource counseling, discharge planning and case management. The Health Care Social Worker is actively involved in advocacy, education, program planning, consultation and collaboration on behalf of individuals/groups within the institution and community. The role is multifaceted and dynamic requiring the Health Care Social Worker to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.

  • Engage in advocacy, education, program planning, consultation and collaboration within the institution and community.
  • Work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work from a recognized university
  • Member of, or eligible for, membership in the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience as a clinical Social Worker required
  • Previous experience in inpatient setting is an asset
  • Strong counselling and communication skills
  • Capacity to achieve a high degree of autonomous practice
  • Knowledge of issues related to family violence, sexual abuse, addictions, grief and loss, end of life, disability, crisis intervention, caregiving and continuum of care and intervention skills that come from knowledge of theoretical frameworks/approaches to practice
  • Ability to prioritize effectively
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Long Assignment, Part-time position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly
  • This position is approximately 11 months in length

Compensation and Benefits

$40.18 - $54.14 Hourly
