Job Skills / Requirements

This position is for the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow and the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro.

Patient Sitters will work one-on-one with patients within the healthcare environment. They will play an integral part in the overall operation of the healthcare team by ensuring patients are provided with proper attention, as per directions from nursing staff and the Shift Supervisor.

  • Essential Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the patient’s overall safety and report any changes to security and/or nursing staff.
  • Ensure the safety of all stakeholders, including patients, clinical staff, and visitors, with de-escalation techniques.
  • Log and report all incidents reported by hospital staff, physicians, patients, or visitors.
  • Utilize two-way radios and computer applications for communicating site activities.
  • Communicate in a truthful and receptive manner under all circumstances.
  • Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide specialized security services according to client needs.
  • Maintain a detailed log of all patient interactions.

Patient Sitters will be required to obtain a Security License and complete Paladin's online and in-person training prior to being eligible for shifts.

Must be available to work day and overnight shifts.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
First Aid/CPR
