Elevare Career Institute is seeking a dedicated healthcare professional for the dual role of HCA Program Coordinator and Lead Instructor in British Columbia. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for registered nurses with teaching experience to make a significant impact on the next generation of healthcare assistants. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate program logistics and curricula to meet provincial standards
  • Lead the healthcare instructional team, providing guidance and oversight
  • Allocate 20 hours per week for direct classroom instruction, follow lesson plans that adhere to the program curriculum, focusing on complex topics or providing substitute coverage as needed
  • Spend the remaining non-instructional hours (20 hours per week) on program coordination tasks, including curriculum updates, faculty mentoring, and compliance monitoring
  • Monitor student progress and performance in both classroom and practice education sites, provide support as required
  • Conduct and complete comprehensive student evaluations in both classroom and practice education sites
  • Regularly evaluate feedback from instructors and students to identify improvement areas, develop actionable plans, and present enhancement recommendations for curriculum and instructional methods to the Executive Director
  • Facilitate collaboration among instructors and maintain open lines of communication with administration
  • Collaborate with the admissions team to align program offerings with recruitment strategies, providing insights on curriculum strengths to enhance student engagement
  • With the assistance of the Placement Administrative Assistant, determine suitable student placements that align with regulatory requirements such as BC CACHWR, including confirming students meet all pre-requisites before commencing practice education
  • Establish relationships with practice education sites to ensure students can achieve program learning outcomes effectively
  • Assign and monitor HCA Instructors to a group of students at the placement site
  • Oversee HCA Instructor and site mentor communications during practicum or preceptorship
  • Oversee the supervision of students during practice education placements to ensure quality and safety
  • Verify that program graduates have been evaluated as meeting all necessary program learning outcomes, skills, and competencies
  • Organize and lead the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings, ensuring active stakeholder consultation and incorporating feedback into program planning and development

Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted full registration as a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (e.g., completion of Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent education or previous teaching experience with satisfactory references or positive performance evaluations and student course evaluations)
  • Two or more years (3 to 5 preferred) of full-time Canadian nursing experience (1 year = 1400 work hours) with relevant knowledge of the Canadian health care system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings. Nursing work experience to include working with older adults with complex health needs, home support, and multi-level/complex care
  • Comprehensive understanding of the healthcare program curriculum and provincial recognition standards
  • Minimum of three years of experience in education program coordination and outreach
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team
  • Effective communication and organizational capabilities

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour, negotiable depending on skills and experience

Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week
