ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Upper Beaver Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Shaft Safety / Trainer Coordinator to join our Shaft team.

Agnico Eagle Mines' Upper Beaver Gold Project is situated on the traditional homelands of the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, Beaver house First Nation, Matachewan First Nation and Timiskaming First Nation. Reporting to the Shaft Manager, you will be an integral part of the Shaft Sinking Department, supporting the Upper Beaver Gold project. Your role will involve ensuring that all goals and objectives are met while upholding Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental standards.

The Shaft Safety / Trainer Coordinator will participate to ensure that the shaft construction is done safely following the policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that the project follows the AEM policies and MOL regulation.
  • Participate in the elaboration of the risk analysis and safe operation procedures.
  • Prepare monthly compliance packages for each supervisor.
  • Participate in the incident investigation.
  • Facilitate the ICAM investigation.
  • Prepare Safety and Training weekly reports.
  • Manage the PPE inventory and place orders.
  • Prepare and present the monthly safety meeting.
  • Attend and assist the Supervisors for the daily huddle.
  • Participate in the JHSC.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and submit reports and follow up.
  • Order and maintain gas detectors and self-rescuers.
  • Prepare a Matrix and keep updated training records for each employee.
  • Complete PFAS registry.
  • Train and sign off on the common core modules.
  • Promote good housekeeping, ensuring proper PPE and tools are used for all tasks.
  • Perform Health and Safety compliance inspections and Job Task Observations.
  • Liase effectively with colleagues and managers regarding various work situations and the activities within the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate has :

  • Underground mining experience required, minimum 10 years.
  • Shaft Sinking experience required, minimum 4 years.
  • Experience operating underground and surface equipment.
  • Health and Safety coordinator experience, minimum 6 years.
  • Underground hard rock common core 770010.
  • Supervisory Common core 770210.
  • Train the Trainer with registering MTCU signing authority.
  • Teamwork and self-starting work ethic.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
