Job description

Our client, a leading Tier 1 manufacturing supplier is looking for an Health & Safety Specialist (Environmental) to join their team

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and administer standardized E2HS processes to ensure compliance to Federal, Provincial and Local regulations as well as Corporate Policies and Procedures
  • Contribute to the achievement of world class status and corporate savings by minimizing electricity use, environmental impacts and occupational injuries and illnesses
  • Focus on implementing ISO 50001, 14001, 45001 with the support of corporate specialists and plant staff
  • Ensure day to day compliance with regulations
  • Coordinate all regulatory issues and communication with the EHS Manager
  • Work with EHS Manager to adopt and implement appropriate protocols and procedures to implement and maintain ISO 50001, 14001, 45001
  • Conduct regular audits of E2HS processes and perform necessary follow up to ensure compliance and advise plant leadership and corporate EHS staff of findings
  • Maintain accurate and complete records to demonstrate compliance with requirements
  • Respond to and investigate plant injuries and concerns. Identify deficiencies, assign responsibility and track implementation of countermeasures
  • Lead the risk assessment process
  • Chair JHSC committee
  • Issue monthly safety talks
  • Lead industrial hygiene assessments and sampling
  • Participate in new and modified equipment programs from the concept stage through delivery to ensure that E2HS design specifications and regulations are included (PHSR, SMI-105 etc.)
  • Ensure ergonomic processes integrated in an appropriate manner
  • Coordinate with HR to implement E2HS training programs and training assessments to ensure required training is identified and conducted
  • Manage routine reports including data acquisition, documentation, record keeping, monitoring, review, and approval
  • Coordinate communication of EHS regulatory inspection activity with plant leadership
  • Identify, lead and drive E2HS projects to improve EHS key performance metrics

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, Science or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of Health & Safety, Environmental, Engineering or related experience in a manufacturing/automotive environment
  • Strong understanding of Federal, State, Provincial and Local regulations and requirements
  • Willingness to work on any shift and additional hours as required
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite and/or other software
