  • Identify non-compliance, unsafe conditions, and improvement opportunities.
  • Work with Project Managers and Supervisors to address potential safety gaps before work begins.

Safety Leadership & Training

  • Coach and mentor project managers, engineers, and contractors on risk management strategies.
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety stand-downs before high-risk project phases.
  • Support HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies for critical assets, including stacker reclaimers, ship loaders, and potash dumper operations.
  • Facilitate incident investigations and root cause analyses (ICAM, TapRoot, or 5-Whys) for asset management-related incidents.
  • Provide on-site support during major shutdowns, weekend projects, or high-risk tasks.
  • Rotate weekend coverage every 3rd or 4th week to ensure critical project execution oversight.
  • Work collaboratively with the Operations & Maintenance Safety Specialists to ensure 24 / 7 safety support.

Skills and Abilities :

  • Strong risk assessment and hazard mitigation expertise.
  • Knowledge of Canadian OH&S Regulations and industry best practices.
  • Ability to facilitate contractor safety programs and inspections.
  • Experience with Permit-to-Work, Lockout / Tagout (LOTO), and Hot Work Programs.
  • Proficiency in HAZOP, ICAM investigations, and root cause analysis methodologies.
