EllisDon Corporation in Edmonton, AB is seeking a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to lead the development of policies, standards, and controls across our projects. You will implement HSE management systems, support incident investigations, and partner with Facilities to ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires a minimum of five years in construction or safety, strong leadership, and a current or progressing NCSO designation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years related experience in construction, safety, environmental, or compliance.
  • Solid understanding of HSE management systems, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • High level of technical expertise with focus on continuous improvement while maintaining health, safety, environmental compliance.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, field-level risk assessments, and developing corrective actions.
  • Ability to influence, coach and engage frontline workers, supervisors, and subcontractors in promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills with field crews and project stakeholders.
  • Must have or be working toward a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop policies, strategies, standards, internal controls, along with technical systems and tools to centrally manage risk and improve HSE performance across the organization and its projects.
  • Develop, implement and maintain specific HSE management system that supports compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and codes for all operations/assets.
  • Support incident reporting and investigations.
  • Compile, analyze, interpret, and report on potential incidents trends to Senior Leaders and the VP, HSE.
  • Support building operations, working with Facilities Managers to ensure compliance with HSE laws and regulations, including routine audits.
  • Develop initiatives, programs and tools to support awareness and strengthen our culture.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and business lines on best practices and innovative ideas to drive improvements.
  • Build tools and procedures that are effective and operations-focused.
