Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor - Telecommunications

You are an HS&E Coordinator, playing a key role in executing and implementing diverse health and safety programs for telecommunication projects. Your responsibilities include developing and enhancing Job Hazard Analysis and Safe Work Practice documents, supporting operations personnel to meet Ledcor's 'Leading Indicator' requirements, and leveraging relationships with operational teams to drive continuous HS&E improvement.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct inspections of work areas, meet with field supervisors to discuss potential issues, ensure safety equipment availability, and monitor environmental hazards.
  2. Provide HS&E advice and services to field supervisors and employees, conduct site safety orientations, and internal HS&E training as needed.
  3. Collaborate with the HS&E manager and coordinators to develop, revise, and implement procedures, standards, and regulations, and mentor field supervisors.
  4. Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  5. Verify that HS&E plans, safe work processes, and hazard assessments are current and support site leadership with planning.
  6. Assist in incident investigations, determine causation, and develop corrective actions for continuous improvement.
  7. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of project HS&E plan implementation.
  8. Audit field hazard assessments and incident reports for accuracy and completeness.
  9. Support safety meetings and toolbox talks with site leadership.
Qualifications:
  1. 3+ years of experience in construction or telecommunications safety roles, with preference for telecom experience.
  2. Certificate or diploma in occupational health and safety; CRSP, CSO, or NCSO designation is an asset.
  3. Technical knowledge of construction practices, techniques, and equipment.
  4. Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  5. Proactive safety approach, risk assessment, program development, and incident investigation experience.
  6. Computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  7. Ability to adapt communication style and influence others.
  8. Team-oriented with adaptability to changing priorities.
  9. Valid provincial driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  10. Completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol screening.
