Description

You are an experienced Health & Safety Advisor who consistently conveys professional judgment and can build effective relationships across all levels. You will play a key role in the execution and implementation of a diverse range of health and safety programs and can expect to work on challenging projects with diverse and collaborative teams to meet and exceed Ledcor’s safety standards.

This position is site-based and the specific rotation schedule and project location will be determined based on project requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of the work area and meet with field supervisors to discuss any potential problems: help to ensure the adequate supply of safety equipment, such as protective equipment, fire extinguishers, respirators, etc.
  • Advise operations regarding Ledcor's Health and Safety Management System, based on a solid understanding of program execution throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor compliance with jurisdictional regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the coordination and completion of safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, focus audits, and incident investigations.
  • Verify compliance with leading and lagging indicators, including subcontractors as well as any identified corrective actions.
  • Conduct the HS&E Orientation to employees and subcontractors during project onboarding.
  • Provide support to site leadership in the preparation of site-specific material for safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Support the coordination, organization, and delivery of project toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Develop and enhance Job Hazard Analysis and Safe Work Practice documents based on existing materials.
  • Monitor and report on the overall effectiveness of the implementation of project HS&E plans.
  • Audit the quality of the field level hazard assessments and incident investigation reports for accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related work experience in industrial construction, pipeline, oil & gas, or related industry.
  • Must hold a CRSP, Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, CSO or NCSO designation.
  • Developed technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to the hourly workforce, while also effectively interacting with project management staff, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to provide a proactive approach to safety, including identification of operational and organizational issues, and developing and implementing strategies to solve them.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, program development, safety & health training, and accident investigation.
  • Capable of adapting information/style to the audience, explaining difficult information clearly, influencing, and persuading others towards consensus agreement in straightforward situations.
  • A strong team player attitude with the ability to effectively adjust to changing priorities and demands.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer competency including experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license and driver's abstract.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements.

Work Conditions:

  • Flexibility to travel to and work at various project sites will be required.
