Industry: Automotive Manufacturing

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day Shift (between 6:30am–4:30pm); occasional on-call availability required

POSITION OVERVIEW

We’re currently looking for an experienced and driven Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to join our client. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining HSE programs that align with legislative standards while encouraging a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. You’ll work closely with both internal teams and external partners to continuously enhance workplace health, safety, and environmental practices.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Oversee and manage all elements of the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System
  • Perform risk assessments, support incident investigations, and help develop corrective actions
  • Organize and assist with audits, ensuring full compliance with internal and external audit standards, including those from the Ministry of Labour/Environment
  • Serve as the main point of contact for regulatory agencies and corporate HSE representatives
  • Lead and promote sustainability efforts such as waste reduction, emissions monitoring, and adherence to ISO14001 and other environmental standards
  • Deliver training and orientation sessions to staff on safety and environmental policies and best practices
  • Accurately maintain records and reports using HSELinx and other data tracking systems
  • Participate in and support Emergency Response Team activities as needed
  • Review HSE performance indicators and contribute to continuous improvement efforts

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in a similar role, ideally within the automotive or manufacturing sectors
  • In-depth knowledge of current OH&S legislation, ISO14001 standards, and environmental compliance regulations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Willingness to be available for on-call responsibilities when needed
