Job description

Join to apply for the HEALTH & SAFETY COORDINATOR /COORDONNATEUR OU COORDONNATRICE EN MATIÈRE DE SANTÉ ET SÉCURITÉ role at National Arts Centre | Centre national des Arts.

Well versed with the OHS legislative requirements, the incumbent is responsible for the development, maintenance, and ongoing management of all safety programs and policies at the NAC. In working with internal and external stakeholders, the incumbent ensures compliance with safety programs such as H&S Workplace Inspections, Emergency Manual, evacuation plans, Lockdown procedures, etc.

The Health and Safety Coordinator must effectively communicate, engage, and build relationships with employees, unions, and management to support safety initiatives, training activities, and accommodation practices for return to work after injury or illness.

The incumbent handles workplace incidents and investigations, manages the return-to-work process, and ensures compliance of safety training programs (WHMIS, Working at Heights, Fork-lift training, Electrical safety, etc.), sourcing and managing contracts with suppliers.

Required qualifications:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related fields;
  • Minimum of five years experience in a related OHS field;
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and provincial OHS legislation, regulations, and injury compensation;
  • Experience with risk assessment methods such as Job Hazard Analysis, Ergonomic Assessments, etc.;
  • Experience developing, administering, and communicating OHS policies and procedures;
  • Experience delivering or sourcing OHS training and awareness sessions;
  • Ability to identify and assess risks, and develop safe operational solutions;
  • Ability to provide OHS advice to management and union representatives;
  • Fluent bilingualism in both official languages, with strong communication skills.

Compensation:

Salary range from $73,900 to $92,300, with three weeks of annual leave, benefits, and pension.
