Looking to develop your career at the forefront of a rapidly expanding industry?Job Summary:The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for demonstrating a high level of ownership and commitment in all matters pertaining to Health & Safety, actively participating in and leading the Worker Safety & Health Committee and arranging site HS training. This role involves ensuring ongoing compliance with legislative and internal operational requirements, conducting site inspections and safety meetings, and collaborating with managers and employees to support risk management and incident reduction. This role is a permanent full-time role Monday - Friday (40 hours/week).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITES:- Be a role model for employees by demonstrating a high level of ownership and commitment in all matters pertaining to Health & Safety (HS).
- Actively participate in and lead the Worker Safety & Health Committee (WSHC).
- Train the Health & Safety portion of new employee orientation.
- Facilitate and/or arrange all HS training (Lock out/Tag out, First Aid/CPR, Lift Truck, etc.).
- Participate in, schedule, and conduct site inspections, safety meetings.
- Maintain and review Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for the sites.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant legislative and internal operational requirements.
- Work with managers to ensure understanding and consistent application of requirements across the facilities and remote work sites.
- Work collaboratively with managers and employees to support objectives of risk management and incident reduction for both the facilities and for remote workers.
- Conduct regular and random site safety audits and provide related reports for trends analysis.
- Assist in investigations of incidents and near misses and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with the H&S Team across Canada to implement required systems and offer ideas for innovation and improvement.
- Develop and distribute safety talks.
- Champion the Employee Engagement Safety program.
- Manage Winnipeg and Ste. Agathe First aid reports and follow-up, first aid response, site first aid kits.
- Provide/arrange training in First aid as required.
- Complete all health and safety reports in a timely manner including, but not limited to, WCB (Workers Compensation Board) and OHS forms and ensure incidents are properly reported.
- Manage all WCB documentation for both sites.
- Lead the WCB cases and act as liaison with management, WCB and workers in relation to health and safety.
- Support Human Resources with ESRW (Early and safe return to work process) and modified work processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Health and Safety role in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly strong in Excel.
- Physically capable of walking long distances.
- Can-do and roll up the sleeves attitude with a thirst for knowledge.
- Self-directed, self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Detail oriented, strong data management skills.
- Excellent communication skills including a professional demeanor, approachability and an active listener.
- Resilient and effectively able to manage stress and change.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage simultaneous priorities.
- Excellent decision-making skills and aptitude to think outside-the-box to solve problems.
- Confidence to effectively manage conflict from a foundation of curiosity to resolve with a win-win.
- Post-Secondary diploma or degree from an accredited College or university is an asset.
- First Aid Training is an asset (must be willing to be certified if not currently certified).
- Experience with 3rd party safety audits is an asset.
