Job summary

Olymel is seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator to lead our safety program, ensure OHS compliance, and drive continuous improvement in safety practices across the facility.

You will identify risks, coordinate training, conduct investigations, and collaborate with production teams to uphold safety standards. The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a proactive safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Degree or designation in occupational health and safety is an asset.
• Understanding of provincial OHS code and applicable legislation.
• Working knowledge of HACCP and its application in the food industry.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and as a team member.
• Influence and engage effectively with all levels of production and distribution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Set a good example with a positive safety attitude and follow the Safety Program, OHS Code, and Collective Agreement.
• Identify risks and implement strategies to eliminate or reduce accidents.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and OHS standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve the safety program and standards.
• Coordinate and conduct internal health and safety training.
• Complete accident and near-miss investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Support teams in meeting health and safety requirements.
• Participate in COR audit activities and safety committee initiatives.
