Qualifications

Job description

Telecon is seeking an energetic and career-oriented individual to join our growing team as a Health & Safety Business Partner.

The Health & Safety Specialist will assess and ensure compliance with all Health and Safety (H&S) legislation across the Telecon Group and subsidiaries, promoting our SMART Values and Safety culture at workplaces and on job sites. Responsibilities include working closely with the Health and Safety Team to align policies, educate, and train employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site inspections and audits for performance and compliance.
  • Lead incident/accident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Review and recommend workplace assessments to ensure safe work practices.
  • Support operations in hazard assessments, equipment and process reviews, and suggest improvements.
  • Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
  • Lead Health and Safety committees across business units.
  • Interpret and advise on OSHA CFR 1910 and 1926 regulations.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety policies.
  • Participate in project safety kick-offs and promote safety initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver safety training presentations.
  • Conduct site audits for offices and project sites.
  • Coordinate with client safety personnel to meet safety reporting obligations.
  • Perform risk assessments and hazard analyses.
  • Work with management and employees to promote H&S initiatives.
  • Review emergency procedures, conduct training, and perform drills.
  • Monitor work injury cases, collaborate with monitoring consultants, and support return-to-work programs.
  • Review HSE performance and assist in corrective action planning.

Qualifications and Qualities:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Health and Safety, preferably in construction.
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety is an asset.
  • Experience in the telecommunication industry is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • First Aid/CPR certification and other safety training.
  • Practical knowledge of workplace hazards and safety regulations.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to influence and coach.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with management systems and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information:

Travel is required approximately 60-70% of the time to offices and project sites.
