New Afton is situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards. About the Role

Schedule : 5x2 8 hour days or 4x3 10 hour days (Mon-Thur or Tues-Fri)

Position Reports To : Health, Safety and Training Superintendent

Duration : Full-Time Permanent

Position Overview

The Administrative Assistant will support the Health, Safety and Training team at the New Afton mine. The ideal candidate anticipates the team’s needs, takes on tasks enthusiastically, and consistently delivers high quality work and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be organized and prepared to undertake all assigned tasks by the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent
  • Create Purchase requisitions and manage receiving of invoices in SAP / Ariba
  • Provide support to optimize the team’s capacity to meet business requirements by managing the training needs
  • Record meeting minutes for select meetings and committees
  • Preparing correspondence, and memos using Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint for site distribution
  • Organization of any onsite or offsite events for the Health, Safety and Training department
  • Maintain Training Records in Safety Systems Software
  • Performing standard administrative, clerical and general office duties

Qualifications

  • Administrative Diploma or Certificate and 2+ years’ experience in an administrative role
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Proficient experience with at least 2 of the following : SAP, INX suite, and ISNetworld
  • A well-developed communicator and able to operate effectively and professionally within the organization
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to demonstrate organization skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands and deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerBI for analytics

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including :

  • Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $60,000 to $70,000. A comprehensive benefits program and bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
