Responsibilities:
  1. Promote a strong health, safety and sustainability culture.
  2. Maintain an effective presence on the project sites.
  3. Guide and assist team members in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, acting as a technical resource and advisor to management on related matters.
  4. Maintain a Health and Safety Management System in conformance to ISO45001 standards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  5. Identify health and safety issues, recommend and assist in implementing control/corrective measures to achieve compliance with regulations and policies.
  6. Lead ABRA (Activity Based Risk Assessments) as required.
  7. Perform Management of Change processes as needed.
  8. Identify, develop, provide, and track training needs.
  9. Support incident investigations and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  10. Manage safety audits (guarding, safety systems, ergonomics, lockout/tag-out, confined space, emergency response, WHMIS, forklift safety, etc.).
  11. Manage workplace inspections, report findings, and ensure corrective actions.
  12. Prepare and share safety KPI reports periodically.
  13. Share best practices and assist other teams with safety matters.
  14. Maintain Environmental Management System in conformance to ISO14001 and compliance with laws.
  15. Coordinate environmental regulatory compliance and permit renewals.
  16. Maintain records and submit reports to authorities as required.
  17. Monitor legislation and update practices accordingly.
  18. Participate in HSE projects management and coordination.
  19. Manage Early and Safe Return to Work programs.
  20. Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities.
  21. Ensure HSE data is accurately entered into digital tools.
  22. Maintain certification continuity for audits like COR, SMA, ISO, etc.
  23. Prepare HSE documentation for field projects, including RAMS, JSA, HIRA, procedures, and update as needed.
  24. Navigate and populate customer safety portals and review customer and legislation requirements.
  25. Collaborate with customer and contractor HSE professionals.
  26. Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Practical knowledge of HSE management.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong work ethic, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
  • Team player and builder.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other applications.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80%).

Education/Experience:

  • College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Environmental Health & Safety or equivalent experience.
  • ISO 45001, ISO 14001, COR knowledge; experience in certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant Occupational Environmental Health & Safety experience.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial and federal HSE laws and standards.
