Responsibilities:
  1. Promote a strong health, safety and sustainability culture.
  2. Maintain an effective presence on the project sites.
  3. Guide and assist team members in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, as well as acting as technical resource and advisor to management on related matters.
  4. Maintain a Health and Safety Management System in conformance to ISO45001 standards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  5. Identify health and safety issues, recommend and actively assist in identifying / implementing control/corrective measures to achieve compliance with governing Regulations and company policies.
  6. Lead the performance of ABRAs (Activity Based Risk Assessments) as required.
  7. Perform Management of Change as required.
  8. Identify, develop, provide and track training needs.
  9. Conduct and/or support the incident investigation process and ensure the appropriate follow-up.
  10. Manage and conduct various internal safety audits (not limited to): guarding, safety systems, ergonomics, lockout/tag-out, confined space, emergency response, WHMIS, forklift safety, etc.
  11. Manage the workplace inspection program, report findings and follow-up to ensure corrective action is taken.
  12. Prepare and share weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on safety KPIs.
  13. Seek and share best practices and assist other facilities/teams with safety related matters if required.
  14. Maintain Environmental Management System in conformance to ISO14001 standards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  15. Coordinate, oversee and ensure environmental regulatory compliance and annual permit renewals.
  16. Compile and maintain records in accordance with governmental agencies; completes and ensures submission of applicable annual reporting to the appropriate regulatory agencies.
  17. Monitor federal and provincial environmental legislations, regulatory requirements, new development programs and proceeds with required updates.
  18. Participate in the management and coordination of HSE projects as needed.
  19. Manage Early and Safe Return to Work programs.
  20. Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities and training.
  21. Ensure HSE data is compiled and entered in the respective digital tools as required in a timely manner.
  22. Manage and maintain continuity of certification for HSE Audits like COR, SMA, ISO..etc.
  23. Prepare field service project related HSE documentation. This includes but is not limited to E-Hasp’s, RAMS, JSA’s, HIRA’s, procedures. Update and develop these as required for customer specific requirements. Confer with the Project Managers for assistance when required.
  24. Navigate and populate customer safety document portals that regulate site access.
  25. Conduct any required reviews of customer requirements (documentation, policies, procedures) or provincial legislation.
  26. Communicate and collaborate with customer and contractor HSE professionals to find common ground with policies and procedures.
  27. Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  1. Practical knowledge of identifying and managing HSE matters.
  2. Excellent communication, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  3. Strong work ethics and sense of responsibility and accountability.
  4. Motivated/committed, adaptable, and able to effectively manage multiple tasks.
  5. Must be a team player and a team builder.
  6. Demonstrated organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  7. Above average proficiency in (MS Office) and other computer applications required.
  8. Willingness to travel to remote areas (estimate travel 80% of work time).
  9. College Diploma/bachelor degree in Occupational Environmental Health & Safety or demonstrated equivalent education and experience.
  10. ISO 45001, ISO 14001, COR knowledge. Experience in certification and maintaining certification preferred.
  11. 3-5 Year Occupational Environmental Health & Safety experience.
  12. Strong knowledge of Provincial and Federal HSE laws, regulations and standards.
