Qualifications

  • Experience with Surface Exploration activities is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act is essential.
  • Valid driver’s license (G2 or better) required.

Job description

Qualifications:

  • University degree or College Diploma in Health and Safety
  • Experience with Surface Exploration activities, particularly surface drilling, is an asset
  • Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others to promote positive health and safety changes
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants is essential
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Valid driver’s license (G2 or better)
Job Overview:

Reporting to the Exploration General Supervisor, you will be part of the Exploration team working on all exploration activities at the Kirkland Lake Project. Your role involves overseeing health and safety performance and supporting the Ontario Exploration Group across various sites. You will provide leadership in health and safety management to ensure compliance and promote a safe working environment aligned with Agnico Eagle’s values and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain safety standards, investigate incidents, and compile safety statistics
  • Conduct inductions and organize safety training sessions
  • Design site-specific inductions and write SOPs and guidelines for surface exploration, primarily drilling activities
  • Supervise safe work practices and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Management systems
  • Prepare safety reports
  • Assist in developing and implementing health and safety programs
  • Identify and address health and safety hazards
  • Provide technical advice on safety issues
  • Monitor and enforce safety regulations among employees
  • Develop strategies to improve safety and control workplace risks
