Health & Safety Advisor - Rail & Civil Engineering

SSA are recruiting for a large Civil Engineering Sub-Contractor who require a Health & Safety Advisor to join their rail division working on HS2 across the Hertfordshire region. Our client has a proven ability to deliver large projects at a high quality with over 20 years’ experience and a turnover of over £70M. Previous rail works include bulk excavations, drainage works, extending platforms, and constructing stations which has established them as a leading Sub Contractor for the rail industry.


Responsibilities:
  • Advise and assist all appropriate Managers to discharge their responsibilities for the Health and Safety of employees and others to whom they have a duty as defined by Statutory Regulations and Company practice.
  • Ensure that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and provide advice as and when required.
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety Manager.
  • Carry out regular inspections of sites and workplaces to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures, and the relevant Statutory Provisions.
  • Carry out accident/incident investigations in accordance with the Company Accident/Incident Reporting Procedure and analyze all data, making recommendations to avoid any recurrences.
  • Ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the Construction Phase Plan.
  • Carry out site inductions and other training as required.
  • Participate in the work of safety committees and joint consultations affecting the workforce.

Knowledge / Experience:
  • Must have completed NEBOSH
  • HSG47 knowledge
  • Experience in Utilities and Groundworks
