Ideal candidates will have a background in Law or Transport, experience in driver training, and strong knowledge of transportation safety regulations.

Reporting to the Director, Fleet Safety, the Fleet Safety Advisor will support the team by providing expertise in CVOR Compliance & Education, supporting operations, and liaising between the Fleet Operations Team, Corporate HSE Team, and Operations Teams. This position is part of a larger Fleet Safety Team across Canada.
The role involves being a subject matter expert in CVOR, Provincial Highway Traffic Acts, Regulations, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Federal Law, and GIP Policies & Procedures related to Transportation Safety. The Fleet Safety Advisor will ensure GIP drivers adhere to legislation and company policies, conduct weekly site and shop audits, develop safety training content, and re-train drivers as needed to reinforce safe practices.
Responsibilities include acting as the main contact for legal and safety regulations, conducting field observations and ride-alongs with assessments, organizing safety training courses, monitoring driver GPS safety scores, and traveling to GIP sites as necessary. The role requires flexible working hours, involving both field and office work, with administrative report deadlines.
Qualifications include post-secondary education in Law, Transport & Logistics, or HSE (asset), experience in dispatching, driver training, or transportation supervision (asset), bilingual proficiency in English and basic French, proficiency in MS Office and safety apps, a minimum Class G Licence (Commercial Licence an asset), and advanced knowledge of CVOR, Pre-Trips, Hours of Service, and Ontario Highway Traffic Act. Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and access commercial vehicles is required.
