Qualifications

  • CHIMA certification with current registration required.
  • Knowledge of clinical medicine and anatomy necessary.
  • Experience in health records administration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical analysis and data entry of clinical information.
  • Assist with Release of Information requests as per PHIPA.
  • Maintain filing and other clerical procedures.

Job Description

The Health Records Technician 1 performs technical analysis, data entry and verification of clinical information associated with reporting and utilizing health care data. This position assists with Release of Information requests according to PHIPA, filing and other clerical procedures as required.

This is a full-time permanent position located in Kenora, offering a chance to be part of a close-knit, mission-driven team in one of Canada’s most scenic lakefront communities.

Qualifications

  • CHIMA Certification with current registration; High Diploma; maintenance of mandatory continuing professional education credits
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent keyboarding skills
  • Ability to use designated reference materials
  • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of MS Office, MediTech and 3M Abstracting and HIM software; experience with other clinical abstracting software and ADT software would be considered as an asset
  • Reliable attendance record
  • Willing to expand job knowledge and skills, but experience is preferred. Prior experience in Health Records administration would be considered an asset
