Job summary

Government of Yukon is seeking a Health Emergency Management Planner for a 75-hour bi-weekly term position based in Whitehorse, Yukon. The role supports Health and Social Services by coordinating emergency management and business continuity planning, and by delivering preparedness education to staff and partners.

The incumbent will work under the Health Safety & Emergency Management unit, report to the Manager, and may be on standby 24/7. A six-month eligibility list may be created.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in public health, business continuity, emergency management, or a related field.
  • ICS 100 Training.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and evaluating emergency management, business continuity, or related operational plans.
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating initiatives involving multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience developing and delivering training, exercises, or capacity-building initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, develop and implement emergency management and business continuity plans.
  • Deliver emergency preparedness education and training programs.
  • Review emergency management plans and support health and social emergency management programs.
  • Participate in a 24/7 duty roster on a rotating basis.
  • Collaborate with internal partners, First Nations, municipalities and federal partners.
