Job summary

Whitehorse General Hospital in Yukon is seeking compassionate Emergency Department physicians to join its ED team on a full-time or part-time basis. The hospital delivers 24-hour on-call support from specialty services and transfers acutely ill patients when needed.

Applicants must be eligible for licensure with the Yukon Medical Council and privileged by Yukon Hospital Corporation; ACLS, ATLS and PALS are required. Recruitment incentives of up to $250,000 are available.

Qualifications

• Eligible for licensure with the Yukon Medical Council.
• Privileging from Yukon Hospital Corporation.
• Maintain membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
• Certification in ACLS, ATLS, and PALS.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency department care with 24hr on-call support from anesthesia, surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, and visiting specialists.
• Participate in scheduling with double physician coverage during peak periods and a second on-call system for backup.
• Work within the ED team to manage 80-100 patient visits per day with a mix of acuity.
