The Opportunity

At Baptist Housing, every day is an opportunity for you to help our seniors experience life well in supportive communities. As a member of our team, you can experience a fulfilling career while working in a collaborative environment where support for you is prioritized. Join our team for a paid training opportunity as a Health Care Support worker via the Health Career Access Program (HCAP).

About HCAP

The Health Career Access Program (HCAP) is a provincial program designed for individuals aspiring to pursue a healthcare career. Starting as a Health Care Support Worker, participants will receive paid training to transition into the role of a Health Care Assistant (HCA). Within the framework of HCAP, the province covers the cost of your post-secondary education while facilitating your placement in an entry-level position within the care sector. Upon successful completion of the training, candidates become eligible to register as a Care Aide with the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry. Those who accept this opportunity commit to remaining employed as a Care Aide at Baptist Housing for 12 months following graduation. HCAP provides a viable pathway for individuals without prior healthcare experience, offering a combination of employment and sponsored training for a fulfilling career in the healthcare sector.

*This is a temporary full-time position while you are in the program.

Working under the guidance of the Administrator, Registered Nurse, or another regulated healthcare professional, the Health Care Support Worker will provide a range of non-direct and non-clinical healthcare support to clients, residents, families, and visitors in long-term care, assisted living, and home settings. These duties will align with established care plans and safety protocols. You will work out of our community at the Heights at Mountain View, located in Victoria, BC.
