Job summary

A security services provider is seeking a Casual Health Care Security Guard to perform proactive patrols, monitor patients, and respond to incidents at multiple hospital sites in Canada, Ontario. The role requires authorization to work in Canada, valid security and first aid certifications, and the ability to complete mandatory training. Overview

Position: Casual Health Care Security Guard

Site: Smiths Falls Hospital - 60 Cornelia St W / Perth Hospital - 33 Drummond St W / Brockville General Hospital - 75 Charles / Lanark County Mental Health - 9 Armstrong Drive, Smith Falls

Hours: Various - 0700-1900/1900-0700

Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Payrate: $18.35/hour - $21.48/hour

Internal posting date: December 09, 2025

Internal closing date: December 16, 2025

External closing date: December 23, 2025

Note: Applicants must have flexible availability to work 2 to 3 12-hour shifts per week and be comfortable cross training at multiple facilities.

Job Description
  • Proactive & reactive security patrols
  • Monitoring and supervision of patients
  • Conflict management and de-escalation
  • Response to incidents

  • Investigate routine incidents
  • Parking and smoking enforcement/by-laws
  • Policy awareness and enforcement
  • Liaise with Paladin management and onsite client/staff to ensure operational demands are met
  • Additional Duties as Assigned
Job Requirements
  • Authorized to legally work in Canada
  • Must have
    • Valid Ontario Security Guard License
    • Valid Ontario G class driving license
    • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C Certificate (from a WSIB-approved provider)
    • Ability to be clean shaven to pass an N95 Mask Fit Test
    • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccine (minimum double vaccination)
    • A copy of your immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella [MMR], Varicella, and TB Skin Tests - Step 1 & 2)

    • Ability to clear a Vulnerable Sector Check (during onboarding)
    • Above average English communication skills (oral/written)
    • Note: Applicants who don't meet these criteria will be filed.
    • Provide pre-requisite certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
    • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
      • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
    • Complete mandatory onboarding training with Paladin in Kingston
    • Commit to the position/availability for 6 months
    • Sit or stand up to 12 hours per shift
    • Complete ongoing training & development as directed by Paladin Management or the client
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
  • 6+ months of customer service experience is an asset
