Discovery Community College is seeking a dedicated HCAInstructor to teach Onsite Lab and Clinical at Courtenay, BC. This part-time role offers opportunities for future instructional roles, with a December 8, 2026 start date.

Rate ranges are $34–$45 for LPN and $40–$60 for RN, reflecting experience and level of care. Schedule runs Monday through Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm with additional student support hours; travel to local sites within the region is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2,800 hours of nursing experience, including maternity, mental health, or acute care.
• Current full registration with the BCCNM as an LPN, RN, or RDPN – required.
• Instructor experience is an asset.
• Experience with Office 365 and SIS is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality instruction in lab and clinical settings.
• Implement and evaluate lesson plans using the HCA curriculum.
• Demonstrate and evaluate practical healthcare skills in lab and clinical environments.

Rate Range: $34- $45 for LPN (based on years of experience and levels of care)

$40-$60 for RN (based on years of experience and levels of care)

Schedule for Labs: Monday to Friday (8:00am to 4:00pm) Plus 1 hours per day Student Support hours) Current Instruction hours subject to change depended on class schedule

• Deliver high-quality instruction and facilitate student learning in both laboratory and clinical settings.
• Implement and evaluate lesson plans using the approved HCA curriculum, ensuring compliance with PTIRU and program requirements (comprehensive orientation and curriculum training provided).
• Demonstrate, supervise, and evaluate practical healthcare skills in lab and clinical environments.
• Monitor student progress, assess competency development, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student success and professional growth.
• Ensure safe clinical practice by reinforcing healthcare standards, policies, and best practices.
• Collaborate with program coordinators, healthcare facility staff, and fellow instructors to support student learning outcomes.
• Maintain current knowledge of healthcare practices, industry standards, and developments relevant to Health Care Assistant education.

• Minimum 2,800 hours of nursing experience, inclusive of either maternity or mental health or Acute Care.
• Current full registration with the BCCNM as an LPN, RN, or RDPN – required.
• Previous instructor experience is an asset.
• Experience with Office 365 and Student Information Systems (SIS) is an asset.
• Strong communication and mentorship skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
• Commitment to fostering a positive educational experience.
• Ability to travel to local sites withing region.

• In a Long-term Care facility in Canada within the last two years, or relevant experience.
