Unit Summary:

Emergency Services provides acute care for both adults and children. The Juravinski Site offers care focusing on elder-friendly services and regional oncology.

Position Summary:

As a member of the healthcare team, this role supports patient care through equipment and supply management, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and participating in selected patient care activities. The HCA provides unit support to patients, families, and care providers. Functions according to the job description for Technical and Clinical Health Care Aides.

Schedule Work Hours:

Days, weekends, holidays

Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of a recognized HCA/PSW program.
  • Preference given to those who have completed a CSAO course.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Experience in maintaining and stocking materials and supplies, including quotas and purchasing.
  • Recent Emergency Department experience as a HCA-Technical (within 2 years).
  • Computer skills or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and legislative requirements.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
  • Initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to accept delegated functions, prioritize, and organize work.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and bend using proper mechanics.
  • Reliable attendance as scheduled.
