We are currently seeking a Health Care Aide to join our team. The role involves providing hands-on personal care, medication administration, light housekeeping, meal assistance, and participation in social-recreational activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with move-ins and facility orientation.
- Perform light housekeeping in resident suites and common areas.
- Support personal care activities such as dressing, bathing, and managing incontinence.
- Assist with simple transfers.
- Respond calmly to medical emergencies.
- Support resident laundry and meal service as needed.
- Follow Care Plans and report changes or concerns.
- Administer, monitor, and record medication.
- Work with residents to meet care requirements and communicate with doctors and managers as needed.
- Maintain competence through ongoing knowledge, skills, and evidence-based practice in caring for aging adults.
- Ensure compliance with provincial standards, legislation, and safety regulations.
- Promote safety through accident and injury prevention practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of provincial Health Care Aide certification.
- Registration with the provincial Health Care Registry.
- Completion of Medication Administration Course.
- Experience in residential care preferred.
- Knowledge of Infection Control procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with residents, peers, and visitors.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to prioritize and solve problems.
- Flexibility to work various shifts.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Compassion and proficiency in assisting residents.
