Job description

The Health Care Aide (HCA) acts as a member of the healthcare team, assisting with resident care and providing basic supportive care as directed. The HCA demonstrates a commitment to the vision, mission, and values of Actionmarguerite.

Service and Assignment: Care and Services - 5ABC

Start Date: March 23, 2025

Shift and Hours of Work: 0.6 FTE - part-time - term: indefinite, ending upon 1 week's notice. Currently nights, 23:15 - 07:30. Assignment and hours are subject to change based on operational needs.

Pay Scale: As per CUPE Collective Agreement

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved Health Care Aide training program
  • Experience in Long Term Care or Chronic Care

  • Fluent in both official languages (French and English)
  • Ability to perform all duties relevant to the position
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills with residents, families, and coworkers
  • Organizational and prioritization skills
  • Willingness to pursue self-development

  • Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Satisfactory employment record, including attendance
  • Current Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry (satisfactory to employer)

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of PHIA, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Principles of Routine Practices, and other relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of healthcare team roles and responsibilities
  • Workplace health and safety practices and W.H.M.I.S. program

This position is designated bilingual (French/English). Employees may hold multiple positions across Actionmarguerite facilities, with total hours not exceeding 1.0 FTE.
