Job summary

Golden Life is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) for Joseph Creek Village in Cranbrook, BC. This temporary part-time role supports long-term care residents with daily personal care, mobility assistance, and daily activities in a team-based setting.

You will uphold dignity and individuality, follow infection control policies, and complete required documentation while working day, evening, and night shifts in 8-hour blocks.

Qualifications

• Must have BCCACHWR registration in good standing.
• HCA certificate from a recognized program.
• First Aid and Food Safe certificates preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 10 kg and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Respect and promote resident dignity, choices, and individuality, considering cultural, spiritual, and psychological needs.
• Provide personal care and assistance to residents as required.
• Record observations, report changes to nurse supervisor, and participate in planning.
• Assist with admissions, move-ins/ transfers and orient residents to staff and peers.
• Operate and report issues with medical and mobility equipment safely.

Joseph Creek Village – Long-Term Care | Cranbrook, BC

Position Type: Temporary, Part-Time (0.49 FTE)

Shift Schedule: Day / Evening / Night

Shift: 8 hour shifts

What You’ll do

• Respect and promote the dignity, choices and individuality of each resident by recognizing them as a whole individual with unique cultural, spiritual and psychological needs;
• Provide personal care to residents and provide assistance as required;
• Perform delegated clinical procedures, record observations, report problem or condition changes to nurse supervisor and participate in team planning;
• Assist resident and families during admission, move-out or transfer process by orientating them to other staff and residents and providing support as required;
• Use medical and mobility equipment safely, reporting any malfunctions to the nursing supervisor;
• Assist with feeding and other meal-service related duties;
• Interact with residents, guests and staff in a courteous and respectful manner;
• Complete required documentation;
• Follow security and infection control policies and procedures; and,
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

• Current registration and in good standing as a Health Care Assistant with the British Columbia Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry (BCCACHWR);
• Certificate of completion from a recognized Care aide (HCA) program;
• Certificates in First Aid and Food Safe preferred;
• Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Ability to work independently and as a team-player;
• Physically capable of lifting up to 10kgs;
• Proven computer experience;
• Successful clearance of a vulnerable sector-criminal record check
• A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• A negative TB test and up-to-date immunization record.
